X Strategy

Even though I have already written about X, I did not necessarily focus on the advertising or strategy that is behind the platform. Obviously one of the first steps on any social platform is to identify your target audience and for X they use location, language, device type, age and gender. With all of these demographics coming into play, X has many different target audiences. It is key to keep that in mind when coming up with strategies for each one.

I was then shocked to find out about certain audience types that are typically targeted. For example, conversion targeting, post engager targeting, keyword targeting and interest targeting, just to name a few. All of these types have different goals and demographics which the app takes into account.

The content strategies of X also surprised me. While in our simulation this week we focused on conversions, X has the unique strategy of less promotion, more conversions. A strategy that didn't shock me was the testing of different lengths for each tweet. You may have to experiment with it to determine what length is the most effective for your specific audience. Our simulation has already taught us how important that timing and consistency of posts is imperative when it comes to conversions so, to see it in the book is not surprising either. We have learned that visuals are vital to content too. Having visually appealing photos or content for each post makes the viewer more likely to read, like and process the information or message that you are trying to get across. Asking questions and posting polls are effective as well and are an easy way to measure engagement with the post.

Honestly, I didn't know what an X list was until I read this chapter of the book. If you don't know what an X list is, it is a way for businesses to subscribe to other businesses either privately or publicly and makes it easy to repost or share content created by influencers, customers or fellow brands.

Since questions are effective, I am wondering if you knew about X lists?
